Storms that brought heavy rain, wind and in some areas hail, that made their way through the area last evening left damage and disrupted travel. Nanticoke was one of the places that saw trees down and power knocked out. City officials ask any resident who received storm damage to document it so they can get a better assessment on the amount of damage throughout the city.

Students in the Nanticoke Area School District will be on a flexible instruction day today.

Last night's weather also caused officials to close the Luzerne County Fair as the fairgrounds in Dallas were left without power. Fair officials expect to have everything up and running and be ready to welcome everyone back today.

As of this morning crews are still working to restore power to hundreds of customers including  in Luzerne County's Back Mountain, Nanticoke and in areas of Monroe and Columbia counties.

9-11 Centers in several counties including Columbia, Monroe, Susquehanna, Schuylkill and Wyoming were without phone service for a time. That service has since been restored.
