HARRISBURG, PA — Incumbent Democratic Governor Josh Shapiro and Republican challenger State Treasurer Stacy Garrity are scheduled to meet on the debate stage Wednesday night in Harrisburg for their first and only head-to-head matchup before the November midterm elections. The televised event marks the final major face-to-face opportunity for both candidates to present their platforms to Pennsylvania voters.
Entering the debate with four weeks remaining in the campaign, recent polling from The New York Times/Siena University shows Governor Shapiro maintaining a 20-point advantage over Garrity. The debate is expected to focus on key issues impacting the Commonwealth, including state energy policy, tax relief, economic development, and government oversight.
The hour-long debate is set to take place at 8:00 p.m. without a live studio audience. Local television stations across the state, including WYOU TV 22 and WBRE TV 28 in Northeastern Pennsylvania, will broadcast the debate live.
