Governor Josh Shapiro is scheduled to deliver his 2026-27 state budget address before a joint session of the General Assembly at 11:30 a.m. today. As he enters a pivotal year for his administration, the governor is expected to center his proposal on alleviating the financial strain on Pennsylvanians by tackling rising housing costs and increasing energy demands. The address will also likely highlight unfinished business from previous legislative sessions, including further investments in public education and workforce development.

Economic growth and cost-cutting measures remain at the forefront of the governor's pitch. While the administration acknowledges the need for increased revenue to fund these initiatives, Shapiro is not expected to propose any hikes to broad-based taxes such as sales or personal income levies.
