Healthcare workers in Lackawanna County gathered outside Regional Hospital in Scranton yesterday. The majority of the healthcare workers, represented by the union SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania, voted to send a strike notice but also say they will continue to negotiate with Community Health Systems for a new contract. Their current contract expired this past Saturday. Workers are not only looking for better wages and benefits, but also a better effort to retain workers. A candlelight vigil is set for October 19 at 6pm outside Regional Hospital.
