Hunters, mark your calendars — Sundays are now open.
For the first time in Pennsylvania’s history, hunters will be able to take to the field every weekend from September 14 through December 7 during the 2025–2026 hunting season, thanks to a newly expanded Sunday hunting schedule announced by the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
The change follows a recent repeal of a centuries-old ban on Sunday hunting, a move by state lawmakers that significantly broadens opportunities for sportsmen and women across the state.
The expanded access applies to all species with open seasons, with one exception: migratory birds. Due to federal regulations, no additional Sunday hunting dates were added for those species, as it would have reduced the overall number of allowable hunting days.
The three previously approved Sunday hunts — for foxes, coyotes, and crows — remain in effect for this year.
Commission officials say the expansion is expected to increase out-of-state interest, drive hunting license sales, and ultimately contribute to stronger wildlife conservation efforts throughout Pennsylvania.
“This is a major step forward for both tradition and conservation,” a Game Commission spokesperson said. “More access means more hunters in the field, which supports both our wildlife management goals and the state’s outdoor economy.”
Hunters are encouraged to review season dates and regulations when planning their trips, especially as the new Sunday rules go into effect this fall.
