HANOVER TOWNSHIP, PA — A 19-year-old Luzerne County man is behind bars after allegedly firing a gun into a home and leading police on a high-speed vehicle pursuit. Hanover Township Police arrested Yerro Cham on Sunday afternoon following an incident that began in the early hours of the morning in the Newtown section of the township.

According to investigators, Cham discharged a firearm into an occupied residence on Columbia Avenue around 4:00 a.m. and fled the scene before officers arrived. While a motive for the shooting has not been released, authorities obtained an immediate arrest warrant for Cham. Later that afternoon, Wilkes-Barre City Police spotted the teenager’s vehicle, which triggered a motor vehicle chase that eventually ended with his apprehension.

Cham faces a series of severe felony charges, including two counts of criminal attempt to commit homicide, aggravated assault, discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, terroristic threats, and recklessly endangering another person.

Following his arrest, Cham was transported to Hanover Township Police Headquarters for processing and was subsequently arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Kyle Halesey. Due to the nature of the charges, bail was denied, and Cham is currently being held at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility.
