New details have emerged in the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old woman in the Glen Lyon section of Newport Township, Luzerne County, on Sunday night, with a search warrant revealing a 16-year-old boy is the focus of a criminal homicide investigation.
The victim, identified as Zhanae McClain, was shot and killed at a home at 218 W. Main St. shortly before 5:30 p.m. Sunday evening. A search warrant names a 16-year-old boy as a suspect in the criminal homicide investigation. The juvenile has reportedly been subjected to forensic testing as part of the ongoing probe. The warrant alleges that police located a pistol in a wooded area near the home where the shooting took place.
The Luzerne County District Attorney's office has confirmed that a teenager and two adult males were present at the scene when police arrived. Two of the three individuals present have been located by police. Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting of Ms. McClain. Authorities have stated that the incident was isolated and the public is not at risk.
