Two men are in custody following a high-speed police pursuit that began in Carbondale and ended with a crash in Scranton. Phillip DeBarry of Carbondale and Qu'Ran Baskerville of Harrisburg were apprehended by authorities after the vehicle they were in fled a traffic stop on Wyoming Street Tuesday afternoon.
The incident escalated when a third man, identified as Amir Hunter, allegedly took the wheel of the Dodge Challenger and sped away from officers. During the escape, a Carbondale police officer fired a shot at the vehicle, though no one was injured by the gunfire. The pursuit continued onto the Casey Highway before the car was abandoned in Scranton’s Hill Section.
While DeBarry and Baskerville were taken into custody, Hunter managed to flee on foot and remains at large. The officer involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave while investigators review the circumstances of the discharge. Police are continuing their efforts to locate the third suspect.
