The $1.2 trillion spending package passed by Congress and signed into law on Saturday will provide more than $15 million for various projects and local agencies in Northeast Pennsylvania, including $1.6 million for proposed passenger rail service between Scranton & New York City. Other area projects from this funding include nearly one million dollars to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport for terminal expansion and improvements, and nearly 1 million dollars to upgrade the Lackawanna River Basin Sewer Authority’s Clinton Twp. Wastewater Treatment Plant, and nearly 1 million dollars to upgrade the Wyoming Valley Sanitary Authority’s combined storm/wastewater system.
