PITTSTON TWP., PA — The Bi-County Airport Board voted unanimously to appoint Kim William "Bill" Hopper as the new executive director of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport (AVP).
Hopper brings more than 30 years of aviation management experience to the regional airport. Most recently, he served from 2019 until earlier this year as executive director of the Pitt-Greenville Airport Authority in North Carolina. His extensive career in airport operations also includes management roles at facilities in New York, New Hampshire, and Nebraska, as well as service as an air traffic controller in the U.S. Marine Corps.
The hiring concludes a months-long national search to fill the vacancy left by former executive director Carl Beardsley Jr., who stepped down earlier this year due to health reasons.
Hopper will officially assume the top leadership post at AVP on November 1 under a five-year agreement.
