Warnings about new fireworks laws in W-B & Scranton

Today a new law regarding firework usage begins in the city of Wilkes Barre. all consumer grade fireworks are illegal for recreational use in city limits. The fine is 500 dollars. City officials say the best way to enjoy fireworks is by attending a professional display. The City of Wilkes-Barre’s Old Fashioned Fourth of July is planned for Tuesday, July 4th from 12 PM to 10 PM in Kirby Park on Market Street. The NEPA Philharmonic will perform from 8 to 10pm with a fireworks display.

Officials in the city of Scranton have new rules regarding fireworks in the city. Consumer grade fireworks are prohibited throughout the majority of the city because they are not allowed within 150feet of buildings or vehicles. Fireworks are also not allowed on city property including in parks or on city streets. A fine for a first offense is 500 dollars. You can learn more by visiting scrantonpa.gov/fireworks. The Scrantastic Spectacular will be Monday July 3rd starting at 4pm at Lackawanna County Courthouse Square. There will be plenty of food, entertainment and activities and the NEPA Philharmonic will perform beginning at 8pm with a fireworks display.
