A water main break in Dickson City left nearly a dozen customers without service and caused low water pressure for many others along Business Route 6 on Thursday evening. Pennsylvania American Water officials confirmed that a 12-inch pipe burst along the 600 block of Commerce Boulevard around 6 p.m., affecting both residential and commercial properties in the busy shopping district. Crews worked through the night on emergency repairs, which were expected to be completed by Friday morning.

While service is being restored, residents and businesses in the surrounding area may continue to experience discolored or cloudy water and fluctuating pressure. Utility officials advise anyone seeing discoloration to run their cold water for three to five minutes until it clears. The break comes amidst a period of sub-zero temperatures across the Commonwealth, which has increased the risk of infrastructure failures and frozen pipes for many Lackawanna County residents.
