The current fireworks ordinance in Wilkes Barre could soon be changing. Wilkes Barre City Council said they would consider repealing the current ordinance and replace it. It would require a permit for any display in the city that will cost $200 and would have to be submitted two weeks prior to when it would be used. The proposed ordinance also says consumer fireworks would be prohibited in the city because nowhere in the city meets the requirement of having a distance of 150 feet from a building or vehicle.
