HONESDALE, PA — A Wayne County man was sentenced Wednesday to 23 to 46 years in state prison following his conviction on severe child sexual abuse charges, according to the Wayne County District Attorney's Office.
Matthew Tucci, 37, of White Mills, received the multi-decade sentence from President Judge Janine Edwards after pleading guilty to charges including rape of a child and statutory sexual assault. Prosecutors stated the charges stemmed from the repeated sexual abuse of a young girl that began when she was 9 years old.
In addition to his state prison sentence, the court classified Tucci as a Sexually Violent Predator (SVP). The designation mandates that Tucci fulfill lifetime registration, reporting, and counseling requirements under Megan's Law upon any future release from custody.
District Attorney A.G. Howell commended law enforcement officers and victim advocates for their work in securing the conviction and long-term prison sentence, emphasizing the county's commitment to holding child sexual offenders fully accountable.
