Scranton’s mayor, council, and tax collector could soon be getting a pay raise. The topic was up for debate at Tuesday night’s city council meeting. According to reports, if the measure passes, Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti could be seeing a $20,000 per year salary increase. Raises will go into effect in 2026, and will not be given to sitting council members currently in office. City council members say it’s been more than a decade since the last time salaries have been boosted. If passed at the council meeting on January 28, the funding for this pay increase will be incorporated into Scranton’s 2026 budget.
