A 74-year-old woman is preparing to stand trial in Lackawanna County for a deadly hit-and-run accident that killed a man riding his e-bike in September.
Diane Fontana is accused of striking 79-year-old Raymond Bacchiocchi as he was traveling across Bridge Street in Jessup. The Lackawanna County District Attorney's Office confirmed that Bacchiocchi later died at the hospital from his injuries.
According to court paperwork, Fontana was driving a dark-colored Cadillac when she allegedly struck Bacchiocchi while he was riding along the Lackawanna Heritage Valley Trail.
Investigators reported that Fontana left the scene of the accident. However, she reportedly showed up at the police station approximately three hours after the incident. Officers who conducted the interview noted that Fontana allegedly showed little remorse regarding the fatal collision.
