A Scranton woman is now charged with homicide by motor vehicle. PSP Dunmore arrested 20 year old Mara Jade Smith in connection with a fatal crash that happened back on May 24th. Police say Smith was driving on Route 307 at the intersection with Blue Shutters Road in Roaring Brook Township in Lackawanna County when she struck a van operated by John Ciccone resulting in his death. State Police investigators determined she accelerated to over 100 miles per hour before slamming on the brakes and struck the other vehicle at 87 miles per hour. She has a preliminary hearing next week.
