Pennsylvania Republican state senators are advancing a proposal to add language to the Pennsylvania Constitution stating explicitly that the document does not guarantee any rights relating to abortion or public funding of abortions.

A late Thursday by the Senate Rules Committee teed up a package of proposed amendments which include requirements for:

-- Voters to show ID at polling places.
--Gubernatorial candidates to be allowed to choose their own running mates.
-- Lawmakers to be allowed to disapprove regulations without facing a governor’s veto.
-- The General Assembly to set up a system for the auditor general to conduct election audits.

A vote of the full Senate could occur today.
