ALBANY, N.Y. (WBEN) - Governor Andrew Cuomo has resigned as the elected leader of New York State, effective August 24.
His resignation comes after widespread criticism over allegations he sexually harassed multiple women. A scathing report issued last week by New York Attorney General Letitia James concluded he sexually harassed current and former aides and other officials. The report prompted most state lawmakers and President Joe Biden to call for his resignation and moved along the state's ongoing impeachment investigation, which is expected to conclude in the next few weeks.
Kathy Hochul will take over as the Governor of New York.
