At the meeting of the Lackawanna County Commissioners this morning, a contract was approved which will mean a countywide reassessment will take place.
January 1, 2026 is the target date for new tax values to go into effect. The contract was given to Tyler Technologies. Commissioners Debi Domenick and Jerry Notarianni voted for and Chris Chermak voted against.
Groundwork for the reassessment will begin in about a month. The last reassessment in the county was done in 1968.
