Philadelphia Phillies ace Aaron Nola was scratched from Sunday’s start against the Red Sox after being placed on the COVID-related injured list.
Nola was one of four Phillies players added to the COVID-related IL on Sunday, joining third baseman Alec Bohm, right-hander Connor Brogdon and left-hander Bailey Falter, who pitched in Saturday’s 11-2 win over the Red Sox.
The Phillies recalled left-handers Damon Jones and Christopher Sanchez, right-hander Mauricio Llovera and infielder Nick Maton from Triple-A.

Brandon Kintzler will start in Nola’s place.
The Phillies are one of the few MLB teams that did not reach 85% of personnel vaccinated, according to beat writer Matt Gelb.
Nola, 28, has not been his ace-like self this season. He entered Sunday with a 6-5 record and 4.53 ERA, although had 126 strikeouts over 101.1 innings pitched.
