PHILADELPHIA — Following a dominant season-opening shutout, the No. 16 Penn State Nittany Lions head to Philadelphia on Saturday for their first road contest of the 2026 campaign, renewing an in-state rivalry against the Temple Owls at Lincoln Financial Field.

Kickoff is scheduled for noon ET, with national television coverage on ESPN2.

Penn State and Temple meet for the 46th time in program history, with the Nittany Lions holding a 40-4-1 edge in the series. PSU has won 32 of the last 33 matchups—including a 34-27 victory during their last meeting in 2016—and returns to Lincoln Financial Field to face the Owls for the first time since 2015.

The Nittany Lions enter the matchup building momentum off an impressive opening performance. Redshirt senior quarterback Rocco Becht excelled in his Penn State debut, throwing for 271 yards and a career-high four touchdowns distributed among four different receivers. Defensively, Penn State recorded nine tackles for loss while holding Marshall to just 147 total yards to secure their first opening-day shutout since 2017—extending their streak as the only FBS program with a shutout in six consecutive seasons.

Temple comes into Saturday's showdown following a strong 38-14 season-opening victory over Rhode Island. The Owls' offense surged behind running back Keveun Mason, who rushed for 158 yards and two touchdowns, while the defense sealed the win with a pair of pick-sixes from Tyree Alualu and Jamarcus Pierre.
