If the Cowboys release another promotional video for their 2022 season schedule that features Jerry Jones playing beer pong, I think we'll know what brand of beer they're going to use.

That's because while Jones and Post Malone were tossing balls into solo cups, Troy Aikman was busy researching and developing his own light beer brand. Now that the calendar has flipped to 2022, that brand has been unveiled.

Aikman introduced us to his new beer, "EIGHT," which is defined as a light lager with just 90 calories, 2.6 grams of carbs and "organic grains, antioxidant-rich Hallertau Tauras hops, no adjuncts or cheap fillers, and no sugars" (via Business Wire).

"EIGHT is for the drinker who consistently puts in the hard work. These folks, myself included, are conscious of what we put in our bodies, and options for a light, refreshing beer that’s brewed with organic ingredients are virtually non-existent," Aikman said. "Taking the time to reflect and celebrate is critical when you're constantly pushing yourself in pursuit of your goals. I hope EIGHT helps people connect with others after a day of doing things right.

"I've learned that I'm a better father, friend, and athlete when I am eating and drinking well. I know a lot of people feel the same way. Being ‘healthy’ is a balance between physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. I use physical exercise to reduce my stress and support longevity, and practice good nutrition and clean eating to maintain my lifestyle. When it comes to grabbing a beer though, I found that my options were limited. If EIGHT hits the market and offers drinkers an option they don’t need to make excuses to enjoy, that will be a huge win."

Over the past two years of research and development of the brand, Aikman has consulted several prominent figures in the beer community, including award-winning brewmaster Phil Leinhart. One of Aikman's co-founders, Doug Campbell, was the president and general manager of Brewery Ommegang from 2016 to 2020 after attending Princeton University for undergraduate studies and receiving an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

EIGHT is based in Austin, Texas and is committed to using one percent of its revenue to "Texas-based causes that work tirelessly to make healthy living accessible to all." This falls in line with other philanthropic measures that Aikman has taken to serve his community, including The Troy Aikman Foundation, which is now a part of the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas.
