Officials are pleading with thousands of people to return to their healthcare providers for a second -- or third -- shot after authorities discovered a Red Cross nurse who shared anti-vaccination views possibly injected them with saline instead of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The nurse in Schortens, Germany, is suspected of administering 8,557 salt-water shots instead of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

“I am totally shocked by this episode,” local councilmember Sven Ambrosy posted to Facebook.
The salt solution is harmless, doctors said. The nurse administered most of the vaccines in March and April, Reuters reported.
Investigators said the woman had posted having doubts or reservations about the vaccine to social media, although they weren’t sure what motivated her.
During a news conference, police did not say whether the woman had been arrested or charged. However, Reuters noted authorities turned the case over to a special task force investigating “politically motivated crimes.”
