Early yesterday, reports emerged that there had been gunfire near former President Donald Trump as he played golf at his club in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Just a few hours later, law enforcement held a press conference to announce that the gunfire was from Secret Service agents firing at an attempted assassin.

The man, identified as Ryan Wesley Routh of North Carolina, was in the shrubbery on the edge of the course about one hold ahead of the former president, and agents saw “a rifle barrel sticking out of the woods and opened fire.

Sheriff Bradshaw said the gunman had an AK-style rifle with a scope, two backpacks “with ceramic tile in them,” and a GoPro camera Bradshaw said he was planning to use to take pictures.

Routh was arrested in the next county after traffic cameras picked up his license plate and alerted authorities.
