Browns to play Jets in Hall of Fame Game August 3

CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – The Browns will kick of Joe Thomas' Hall of Fame celebration and their season August 3 at 8 p.m. against the New York Jets in the Hall of Fame Game.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame made the announcement Tuesday afternoon.

Thomas the former Browns left tackle and 10-time Pro Bowler, headlines the class of 2023 as a first ballot election while former Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis and defensive lineman Joe Klecko were also elected.

“We're very fortunate to be able to play in that game,” Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters Wednesday at the NFL Combine. “I think it's an unbelievable honor to do so. It gives us an opportunity to celebrate Joe's career. So that part we're excited about heading down there to Canton.”

Being selected for the game means the Browns will adjust their offseason and training camp schedules with four preseason games to be played this summer.

“We will end our off-season program a week early in June and then go back about a week early in July,” Stefanski said. “So we'll start a little bit earlier and then get the team ready for the season.”

The two teams are also scheduled to meet again during the regular season in Cleveland.

The Browns, who will make their sixth appearance in Canton, last played in the game during their inaugural expansion season in 1999.

The Jets last played the game in 1992.
