1991-A funeral is held in England for Eric Clapton's young son Conor, who fell to his death from a New York City high rise apartment window. Phil Collins and George Harrison are among those attending the service.
1982-After falling asleep at the wheel on the San Diego Freeway in LA - and managing not to hit anyone - David Crosby is arrested for possession of Quaaludes and drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence of cocaine and carrying a concealed weapon.
1981-Blondie's pioneering crossover pop-plus-hip-hop single "Rapture" hits number-one in Billboard.
1979-One day into his 47-date US tour, Eric Clapton weds Patti Boyd - George Harrison's ex-wife and the inspiration for "Layla" - in Tucson, Arizona
1973-The Doobie Brothers release "Long Train Running," the first single off their third album, The Captain and Me. It will become their first Top Ten, peaking at number-8.
1969-In London, Ringo Starr says The Beatles will make no further public appearances. John Lennon contradicts him, saying the band will make several during the year. (Ringo was right.)
1967-Van Morrison records "Brown Eyed Girl" at A&R Studios in New York with American producer Bert Berns. Take-22 will be used for the single that becomes the Irish rocker's U.S. breakthrough.
1965-The Rolling Stones top the British singles charts with "The Last Time."
1964-Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum in London announces that The Beatles will be the first pop music stars to be cast in wax.

The drummer on Genesis' second album, Trespass, was replaced by Phil Collins. He subsequently disappeared and was not heard from until he resurfaced at a Genesis convention in England in 2006. He died of heart problems March 26th, 2009, two days before his 61st (or possibly 62nd) birthday. Born 1948.
