'Morning Quickie': Cleveland Heights school bus fire under investigation

Luckily, all 15 kids and the bus driver survived

Everyone is safe after a school bus became engulfed in flames while on its way to Monticello Middle School in Cleveland Heights early Thursday morning.

“The bus driver acted quickly and got all of the students off the bus and to safety,” according to the fire department’s Facebook post. “There were no injuries and the fire was quickly brought under control by the Cleveland Heights Fire Department."

According to Cleveland Heights-University Heights Superintendent Liz Kirby, the bus was transporting 15 students at the time of the fire.

Kirby added that the fire broke out "behind one of the rear wheels of the bus." However, officials have not provided any additional details regarding the cause of the fire. The bus did undergo an inspection just two weeks ago. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
