'Morning Quickie': Cleveland Hts. school bus driver honored by state

He safely evacuated 15 kids when the bus caught fire

The driver of that Cleveland Heights school bus that caught fire last week was honored by the state of Ohio for his actions that helped save the lives of 15 students on board.

Dorian Pace was driving the bus on Thursday when flames broke out behind the rear wheel. The fire quickly took over, but Pace and the children were able to make it out safely.

During Monday's Cleveland Heights City Council meeting, Pace received a special coin from Ohio Public Safety Director Andy Wilson, who told Pace he should be "so incredibly proud of what you did that day." Pace, a Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District employee for the past 11 years, was emotional during the ceremony as he spoke about what happened.

The fire is still under investigation. The affected bus had passed a state inspection less than two weeks before the incident.
