'Morning Quickie': First human has Neuralink chip implanted in brain

Elon Musk reveals first human trial

Elon Musk revealed in a post on X yesterday that a patient has become the first human to have a Neuralink microchip implanted into their brain. The product is designed to allow a user to control electronics with just their thoughts, and Musk says he hopes it will allow users with disabilities like Stephen Hawking to communicate “faster than an auctioneer.” Even though the FDA gave approval for human trials, experts say it would most likely be a decade or more before the process could be approved for commercial use.
