Guardians manager Terry Francona to miss Friday’s game, return Saturday

CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – Guardians manager Terry Francona will miss Friday’s series opener with Detroit so he can undergo a minor medical procedure.

Francona is expected to return to the team Saturday.

Bench coach DeMarlo Hale will handle managerial duties in his absence.

Francona just returned to the team after spending nearly a week in Major League Baseball’s health and safety protocols following a positive test for COVID-19.

Hale took over for Francona in late July last season so Francona could tend to his health.
