As new Bon Jovi documentary “Thank You, Goodnight” gets ready to debut on Disney+ and Hulu on April 26th, its iconic frontman (and namesake) is speaking out about recent health issues that have cast doubt on his future. Jon Bon Jovi received the Pollstar Live! Milestone award for the band’s 40th anniversary and revealed some surprising information.
“I’ve had major reconstructive surgery in my vocal cords,” the rocker confessed. “And I never had anything like this, ever.” Calling the experience “a difficult road,” Bon Jovi admitted he’d undergone a process called “medialization,” which involved implanting a plastic vocal cord and two years of rehab for the singer.
And as for the future, the frontman was adamant that he wants to, but only if he can get back to the level he expects of himself. “If I can’t be great, I’m out,” he said bluntly.
