Yesterday we brought you the tragic news that iconic “Friends” star Matthew Perry left us at the age of 54. And as the world mourned, it also waited on word from a group of folks that were like family to the late actor: his “Friends” castmates.
And two days after Perry passed away in the hot tub of his LA home, the group has done just that. “We are all so devastated by the loss of Matthew,” said a statement released jointly by Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer. “We are more than just cast mates. We are a family.”
But like many of us, the group of Hollywood stars said they need more time. “There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.” The group then sent “our thoughts and our love” to “Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”
New reports also tell us the actor’s death became even more sad when it was revealed he was actively working to help make the world a better place for those dealing with substance abuse. Sources say Perry was beginning a foundation dedicated to battling drug and alcohol abuse but passed away before he could see those plans through.
