Delta Airlines Flight 4819, operated by Endeavor Air, crashed while landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport. The flight was arriving from Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport with 80 individuals on board, including 76 passengers and 4 crew members. During the landing at approximately 2:15 p.m. local time, the plane flipped upside down on the runway and caught fire. Even though there were 18 people injured in the crash, there were no fatalities.
The incident led to a temporary suspension of airport operations, which resumed last night. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has initiated an investigation into the cause of the crash, with assistance from the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board. Weather conditions at the time included residual snow on the runway from a previous storm and wind gusting up to 40 mph. Despite the severity of the accident, there were no fatalities, and all injured parties are expected to recover.
As he was exiting the crashed plane, passenger John Nelson took video of the plane as he walked away from it. You can see the video here.
