'Morning Quickie': Lake Effect Snow Warning Extended

The warning now stretches into Sunday

Rounds of snow will be impacting multiple northeast Ohio counties this weekend. The Lake Effect Snow Warning will now last until Sunday at 7a.m. Friday morning a system of snow moved west to east across the area. Motorists should expect some slick spots on the roads during the morning commute.

With lake effect snow warnings in effect and the possibility of heavy snow squalls, ODOT is again asking drivers to be careful and patient.

The highway patrol said that last winter, there were more than 8,000 accidents on snow-, ice- or slush-covered roads in the state.

As the lake effect snow starts to move in, ODOT says there are 35 plow trucks assigned to the snow belt areas of Geauga and Ashtabula counties, and a total of 250 trucks will be working on ice and snow removal on highways across the entire region.
