Twenty juveniles were arrested during an incident at the Summit Mall, leading the mall to close early Thursday evening.
According to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were helping Fairlawn police and other departments provide extra security at the mall.
Investigators say “several altercations” broke out between juveniles inside the mall and in the parking lot.
The Fairlawn Police Department posted a notice on its Facebook page, stating the mall closed at 5:30 p.m. — a half hour ahead of schedule — because of the incident.
“This situation has become a recurring issue that we have been anticipating and preparing for,” Fairlawn police said.
Fairlawn police urged the public against spreading false information on social media.
