A Winter Storm Watch for a large area of Northeast Ohio has ODOT crews gearing up for their biggest response yet this winter.
ODOT is warning drivers that as the storm unfolds, there could some dangerous conditions to deal with on highways across the region.
The storm will be a big challenge in areas of the snow belt that have already been pounded by four to five feet of snow. That’s why ODOT crews are taking steps to get ready for yet another layer of heavy snow.
ODOT is expecting temperatures to drop in the lower 20s and that’s why they will be using a liquid deicer, called Beet Heet, to make sure that road salt is effective during the storm.
Expect snow to start Wednesday night, all day Thursday and then taper off Friday morning. The lake effect regions are going to get feet of snow, while others will get 6 inches or more.
ODOT plans on having a full complement of 250 crews attacking the ice and snow across the region after the storm arrives on Wednesday.
