Northeast Ohio is preparing for the extreme heat this week. The Cleveland Department of Public Safety is helping residents with cooling centers throughout the city. Temps will quickly rise into the mid-90's Monday, with a heat index near 100.
Cleveland has six cooling centers located throughput the city. The following Cleveland cooling centers are open Monday through Friday this week from 11:30 a.m. until 10 p.m.
Zelma George Neighborhood Resource & Recreation Center: 3155 Martin L. King Blvd.
Collinwood Neighborhood Resource & Recreation Center: 16300 Lakeshore Blvd.
Gunning Neighborhood Resource & Recreation Center: 16700 Puritas Ave.
Kovacic Neighborhood Resource & Recreation Center: 6250 St. Clair Ave.
Michael Zone Neighborhood Resource & Recreation Center: 6301 Lorain Ave.
Frederick Douglass Neighborhood Resource & Recreation Center: 15401 Miles Ave.
An EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH has been issued for the entire state and surrounding areas Monday through Friday.
According to the National Weather Service, a Heat Advisory will go into effect on Monday from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. for Ashland, Ashtabula, Carroll, Coshocton, Crawford, Cuyahoga, Erie, Geauga, Holmes, Huron, Lake, Lorain, Mahoning, Medina, Ottawa, Portage, Richland, Sandusky, Stark, Summit, Trumbull, Tuscarawas and Wayne Counties.
