One of daytime TV’s biggest icons, Jerry Springer, has died at the age of 79. The onetime mayor of Cincinnati became famous for his rollicking, controversial talk show where guests would frequently get into arguments and even physical altercations. The show ran between 1991 and 2018. Memorial arrangements are pending. TMZ reports that the cause of death was pancreatic cancer, which had been diagnosed a few months ago.
James Corden hosted his final Late Late Show. He could have worked man more years. CBS tried to negotiate with Corden, including 50-million reasons to stay. He rejected their generous offer to literally “spend more time with his family.” Corden intends to return to England to raise his children. Thursday night, CBS featured a primetime going-away special featuring a bit with Tom Cruise and Carpool Karaoke with Adele. Then Harry Styles and Will Ferrell helped close the curtain on the final Late Late Show. It will be replaced by a game show produced by Stephen Colbert.
