Thanks a lot, Boss. Beatles icon Sir Paul McCartney says it’s all Bruce Springsteen’s fault that everyone in rock is working harder than ever before. “You can’t (even just) do an hour,” complained McCartney, jokingly, on Conan O’Brien’s podcast “Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend.” “We used to do a half-hour. That was the Beatles’ thing: half an hour and we got paid for it!” The British legend reminded fans that back in the day, there used to be multiple acts on a bill so sets were always short. “And so we thought, ‘Well, half an hour, that’s like, epic! … It didn’t seem strange,” recalled the icon of rock’s early days. But thanks to his hard-working friend Bruce, fans have been groomed to expect sometimes “three or four hours” at a show. McCartney admitted he’s surprised to be working harder (and longer) now than he did in his 20s.
We’ve been following along as some very famous men of a certain age haven’t let time slow them down. Following the birth of new children for Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino, Mick Jagger is also growing his family- in a different way. The legendary Rolling Stones frontman has found love again. He’s announced that he and girlfriend Melanie Hamrick are engaged, according to sources. 36-year-old Hamrick recently sent the rumor mill spinning when she sported what she called “a promise ring” from the 79-year-old rocker. “Melanie was at the American Ballet Theatre and she was telling her friends she was engaged to Mick,” said one insider. “She was very clear her ring is an engagement ring and she is now his fiancée. Her family also very much understands them to be engaged and are thrilled.” Of note... Hamrick and Jagger did have a baby together in 2016.
