'Morning Quickie': Happy Amazon Prime Day, & livestock on the loose in Cleveland

What's trending to start your day

Happy Amazon Prime Day! Prime Day is Amazon's deal event exclusively for Prime members, featuring personalized deals and top brands. The event came to life for customers on July 15, 2015, as a way to celebrate Prime members on Amazon's 20th birthday. You must join Amazon Prime to participate fully in Prime Day. Although, right now there is a 30 day free trial. To see some of the Prime Day deals, click here.

With Amazon Prime Day coming up today and Wednesday, the company is warning shoppers to be on the lookout for scams. Specifically, Amazon wants people to watch for suspicious emails or texts asking you to contact them or download software, as well as being asked to make an Amazon payment over phone, email, or bank transfer on another website. The Federal Trade Commission reports that Amazon was the most impersonated business in 2021, with around one in three reporting that they encountered a scammer pretending to be an Amazon rep. Those scams ended up costing consumers over $27-million in losses.

And last night, livestock was on the loose in Cleveland! Cleveland police tracked down a cow running loose on the city's east side. Officers were called to the scene at East 123rd Street and Oakland Avenue for a report of a loose cow. The cow had an ear tag that says "Punch." While drivers tried to steer clear of the cow, Cleveland police called for its mounted unit with a trailer to try to corral the animal.

We're happy to report that police were able to successfully get the cow into the back of the trailer and transported it to the division's mounted unit.
