'Morning Quickie': Dolly teases us again, Snoop Dogg loves ice cream, & streaming has passed cable

What's trending to start your day

Dolly Parton has released yet another track from her upcoming excursion into rock music - this time covering Queen. The album "Rockstar" features covers of rock classics and original tunes - and this time we get to hear Dolly channel her inner Freddie Mercury on "We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions. The full album comes out November 17.

Snoop Dogg is rolling out another product line and this time it’s sweet. The rapper, crediting business mentors Martha Stewart and Master P, has teased a tasty line of ice cream. Dr. Bombay is the ice cream and some of the flavors that the Dogfather had a direct hand in creating are "Syrupy Waffle Sundae Daze," "S'more Vibes" and "Rollin' In The Dough.” The ice cream drops in Walmart stores on August 1.

And streaming has passed cable as America’s most-watching viewing platform. Nielsen’s latest data shows that more people are watching television through streaming services than cable for the first time. The data shows that streaming platforms are getting 38% of all television viewing, with cable getting 31%. Netflix captured 8.2% of all viewers, but YouTube was responsible for 9%. Bigger might not mean better, because Netflix shares fell yesterday as it reported weaker-than-expected revenue for the quarter.
