The final supermoon of the year will illuminate the sky. According to the Farmer's Almanac, the "Harvest" supermoon will reach its peak just before 6 a.m. this morning on the east coast. A supermoon happens when the moon's orbit is closest to Earth at the same time the moon is full, according to NASA. A supermoon is typically about 14-percent bigger and 30-percent brighter than an average moon.
The Powerball jackpot is inching closer to a billion dollars. Saturday night's drawing will now be worth at least $925-million. That would mean a lump sum payment of just over $432-million, before taxes of course. No one has won the big Powerball jackpot since July when someone in California scored a billion dollars.
