AMC Theatres announced a list of rules that Taylor Swift fans must follow while attending screenings of the Eras Tour concert film, which opens this weekend. The company's website says "Eras attire and friendship bracelets are strongly encouraged," as is "dancing and singing" so long as it doesn't block the aisles or anyone's view of the screen. AMC also says "feel free to take selfies and group photos," but don't pirate the movie, which runs 2 hours and 48 minutes. Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour is expected to open with around $125 million at the North American box office, and could add another $50-$75 million internationally from the 90 other countries where the film is being released. By the end of its run in movie theaters, it's expected to rank among the top 10 biggest blockbusters of the year for 2023.
Stargazers in the West will get a chance to see a "ring of fire" eclipse this weekend. Technically it's an "annular" eclipse. The "ring of fire" name comes from the fact that the moon blocks all but the sun's fiery outer edge. The best viewing on Saturday will be from the Central Oregon coast through Nevada, Utah, the four corners area, New Mexico and Texas. Elsewhere, people will see a partial eclipse, where the sun looks like a big cookie with a bite taken out of it. On the west coast, the action will start shortly after 8 a.m. with maximum coverage between 9:15 and 9:25. Remember: do not look directly at the eclipse, use special eclipse glasses.
