More than 30 percent of children in Cuyahoga County are now food insecure which is a 40.1 percent increase from the 2018 rate.

“Our members and staff believe the whole city is our partner in keeping Cleveland compassionate. While we could just encourage our members to donate, we want to do more and invite the whole city to join our efforts. I’m issuing a challenge to all our fellow Clevelanders to come out and support our brothers and sisters in need, and show them that we are here to support them even in the darkest times of their lives” the Rev. Dr. Andrew McDonald, Interim Senior Pastor said. “These last two years have been hard on everyone. Our food drive is just one opportunity to directly address the serious need for basic aid in our local community.”

The Community Food Drive will take place on Sunday, April 25, at 12:00 p.m. at Old Stone Church (91 Public Square) outside the Ontario Entrance. The event, scheduled to conclude at 2:00 p.m., is free and open to the public. Still, participants are encouraged to mark themselves as “attending” on Facebook to help volunteers prepare for turnout. Participants can drive up and drop off their donations. Everyone who donates will receive a unique gift bag (while supplies last).

Participants are required to wear a mask and practice six feet of social distancing. Volunteers will receive donations outdoors with no contact. Donation drop-offs will be limited to five minutes to maintain sufficient space for participants and volunteers to keep their distance.
