'Morning Quickie': President Biden speaks on Trump assassination attempt

President Biden made remarks in the Oval Office

Not long after taking the stage Saturday in Butler, Pennsylvania for a rally, former President Donald Trump was shot in the ear during an assassination attempt.

Three other people were shot, with one killed on the scene and two more in stable condition as of yesterday.

The shooter was identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, roughly 40 miles from Butler.

Former President Trump, who’s already in Milwaukee for this week’s Republican National Convention, told the “Washington Examiner” last night that he has rewritten the speech he’ll be giving Thursday night at the close of the RNC.

Most people on both sides of the political aisle issued calls for a “lowering of the temperature” in American politics including President Joe Biden, who made the remarks during a rare Oval Office address to the nation.

An investigation into the security of the area where the shooting happened was announced by President Biden, and a Congressional investigation was announced by House Speaker Mike Johnson.
