According to a report from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Ramona Shelburne, Joel Embiid will be playing in a potential series-clinching Game 4 road bout against the Toronto Raptors despite the franchise fearing the big man suffered a thumb injury.
NBA insider Shams Charania inked a follow-up report, noting that the All-Star center will "play through the pain" and rely on the Sixers medical staff.
While both reports didn't list exactly when Embiid may have sustained this injury, he was wearing a black restraint on his thumb after the team came back on the court after the end of halftime during Game 3.
This report may give Philly fans a cause to pause on if Embiid will be available on Saturday but the star center was at practice on Friday where Doc Rivers said he's "good." Not to mention the fact they are up 3-0 which gives them a near-impossible route for the Raptors to come back from that deficit.
If he was injured, Embiid sure didn't show it on Monday, hitting the game-winning 3-pointer while netting 33 points and 13 boards in the Sixers' 104-101 victory. He's been eating in Round 1 of the Playoffs, averaging 27.7 points and 13 rebounds against the Raptors.
"He's good," Rivers said. "We did a lot of stuff ... We just don't want anybody to hit his arm, his hand and all that. But he was fine."
There have been a trend of injuries across the league during the playoffs, including Khris Middleton being out indefinitely with an MCL sprain and Devin Booker slated to miss 2-3 weeks with a hamstring sprain.
