Former day-time talk show host Maury Povich has offered to figure out if Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson are half-brothers.

In a recent chat McConaughey had with E! News, the outlet showed him a video message from Povich, in which he said he’d “come out of retirement” to give him and Harrelson DNA tests.

“We could do primetime, ‘DNA: Maury’s Back With Woody and Matthew.’ I’ll even get my showtime color back in my hair,” Povich joked. “Woody’s got my number. I’m ready.”

During his run on “Maury” from 1991-2022, Povich was known for his catchphrase, “you are not the father,” when DNA tests would be conducted on the show.

McConaughey responded to the clip, saying, “I don’t know if we’re going to be calling you to do it on your show, but I like the way you’re thinking.”

The idea of the two actors and friends being related comes from a McConaughey appearance earlier this year on Kelly Ripa’s “Let’s Talk Off Camera” podcast.

On the episode, the actor recounts being on a vacation in Greece where his mom was also in attendance when she told Harrelson, “Woody, I knew your dad.”

McConaughey said it was a “loaded K-N-E-W.”

The “Lincoln Lawyer” actor then said he’s a bit wary of taking a DNA test because it’d be hard to find out that “my dad may not be my dad after 53 years of believing that?”
