Michigan's Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park has been compared to Crater Lake where a volcano collapsed and filled with water which sparked my interest as a kid and created an item that looked like it.
Yes, we have some mountains in the Upper Peninsular that are nicknamed The Porkies which reminds me of that movie Porkies. Great views of the Lake of the Clouds from up on a mountain. Even the hardwood forests there are ancient, some of the oldest on America. See more here.
