There are many beautiful neighborhoods in Detroit. Those with canals get my attention. I'll even take a long drive from where I live just to see them. Grosse Pointe district along the water is the place to go. Also a great park there.
Some people call the area "Little Venice". It's been a great season especially for those with boats. If you visit with no boat, boats are rented there including kayaks. The only downside is flooding damaging homes. Maybe rent a small home and live on a yacht, just kidding. More here.
